The Ladies First Jazz Combo was formed in the early 90s by bassist Jennifer May. The original six-piece group included Jennifer May (bass), Jennie Jones (saxophone, flute, clarinet and vocals) and Peggy Scalzo (drums). After several years performing together, the combo was expanded to a 16-peice group in March of 2003; read more about them here.
The current combo also includes Julie Windon on trumpet, Maggie Rosten on saxophone and flute and rotating keyboard players Christina Custodi, Claudia Andres and Kathy Carr. They have been the recipients of the Buffalo Music Award for "Best Jazz Combo" three times.
Currently available for private parties as well as public venues, The Ladies First Jazz Combo continues to wow audiences with their superb style and unique sound. They also offer educational clinics through Young Audiences of Western New York, further striving to help the next generation of musicians realize their potential.
